Our dreams, and where we get them.

Quote of the Day -- “Be careful what you wear to bed at night, you never know who you'll meet in your dreams.
My Face When of the Day -- http://myfacewhen.com/27

The topic of today's post, which is my first post of this blog, is dreams. We have them every night, even if you can't always remember them. They can consist of many different people and many different events, but they almost always relate to something in your thoughts.

...Which is what intrigues me the most. Haven't you ever had a dream in which your first thought after waking up is, "WHY THE HELL DID I DREAM OF THAT!?" I'm sure you have. I know it's happened to me several times on occasion.
Just recently I had one of these dreams. An old friend of mine visited me in a dream, but not in the way I really wanted. The dream put them in the state that me and everyone else I know sees them as, an upsetting waste of flesh and bone. They did things that are normal for them, but we try to forget about. I was a mess when I woke up to tell you the truth. But the thing of it all is, our minds are very good at seeing certain truths that we tend to ignore and pass over every day.

I had to question myself as to why I had this dream, and why it was the way it was. And I came to the answer that, I was trying to fool myself into thinking they had changed. A truth I didnt want to hear, but a truth none the less. It made me realize what my thoughts actually mean in certain situations and that maybe I should pay more attention to them.

Now, that was only the first part of this post, more specifically, the actual dreams part. The second part I would like to talk about would be what I like to call our "dreamscape". Many of us have had reoccurring themes in our dreams, or maybe even something as small as certain places or people in them, either constantly, or on a regular basis. They may have nothing to truly do with the dream at hand, but they find their way in regardless. It can go as far as even creating a place where you dream on a regular basis...

...Which is where I go to when I dream. Every dream for the past two months or so has taken place in this "place". As far as I know, it doesn't have a name, nor can it be found anywhere in particular besides my dreams. Yet, I could map it out for you if you gave me a pen and paper, and could even tell you the stores in the mall. A very interesting place indeed, and I get to visit it every night. My only qualm about this is that I don't actually have control over the place or what happens in it. I am not lucidly dreaming of this place, yet it exists every night in my thoughts and dreams. Maybe someday I will be able to name it and truly call it my own.

PHEW! That was a long post overall, lol. I hope that you guys didn't just skip over it all :/ So I will leave you with a question. What is your "Dreamscape", if you have one? Be sure to leave your answer in the comments below. Go ahead and comment anyways if you don't want to answer too!

  1. I've got a few recurring places in my dreams.
But whenever my dreams are recurring dreams, they're about traveling the multiverse or something vaguely similar. So, not too many repeats.

One place is where all the planes intersect... just a big grey wasteland.
The second is my own personal plane, or something like it. I can picture it vividly, but can't quite describe it... it's got a big house, with traditional Japanese architecture, and lots of little bridges crossing over a stream in the front yard. And beautiful nature surrounding it all.

We could probably have a LONG conversation about dreams and dreamscapes when you get back in town.
